Can the movie live up to this awesome, awesome trailer? I am very much looking forward to taking Elizabeth to see this.

This reminds me, I just picked up The Dark Crystal 25th Anniversary DVD at Best Buy for $10 (on sale this week, cheaper than Amazon). This new DVD edition has digitally restored the picture for the first time and it is absolutely beautiful. It comes with two DVDs so packed with extras I’m not sure where to even begin.

If you haven’t seen the film yet, or lately, you may be as surprised as I was about how great and creepy and perfect the film is.

Dark Crystal sticks with you. I’ve had flashes of it strike me off and on since I first saw it on laser disc, way back in the mid-80s when I was three or four. In particular, the mystics and their slow journey to the crystal continue to inspire me.

I hope Where the Wild Things Are can reach that standard for Elizabeth.
