So Much Fun

Had a great day playing Magic at the prerelease events today. The new set is very interesting if very complex.

I’m heading back for more tomorrow. I only drafted today since I arrived too late to get in the sealed flight (Tyyylerrrrr! *shakes fist in the air*). Tomorrow’s events don’t start ‘til noon, so I should be able to make them.

The best part of playing with physical cards—as opposed to playing Magic online—is the community of players. The Internet tends to polarize and turn people into assholes. It’s refreshing to sit down across from an actual human and talk in respectful tones, even if our ideas differ. Also, I actually met a couple guys who came down from Cando!

Oh, and the reason prereleases are such a big deal is the new set doesn’t go on sale to the general public for a few weeks. And this is the first prerelease held in Fargo, one of only 8 new US event sites this year (There were about 60 total across the country). The staff from Paradox did a great job keeping as many as five different events going at the same time.
