Remember how before the Oscars everyone was wondering if anyone would tune in or care because no one had seen the films?

Seems to me, if the studios really understood how the general public sees their movies—I should say buys or rents—they would have released on disk, downloads, and on-demand immediately after the nominees were announced while the Oscar-hype was hottest.
